The Prize of Europe went to Austrian rider Max Kühner who travelled to Aachen with high expectations and ready to deliver his best performance in show jumping. Luciana Diniz won the silver medal while Jérôme Guery secured the third spot.
Riding Elektric Blue P, the horse that also gave him the victory at The Dutch Masters Rolex Grand Prix, the rider was first to go in the second round. He put in a fast round in a time of 56.36 seconds, proving to be unbeatable for the eleven competitors who went after him.
“I simply set a good rhythm and the fences came. He felt even better in the second round than in the first.” -Max Kühner, Austrian show jumper.
The Turkish Airlines Prize of Europe means Max Kühner now has the chance to pick up an extra bonus on Sunday at the Rolex Grand Prix of CHIO Aachen. If he wins in the Rolex Grand Prix he could collect a further 250,000 euros in addition to the prize-money as this would be his second Rolex Grand Prix in one Rolex Grand Slam cycle.
The Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping is composed of four events: The Dutch Masters, CHIO Aachen, CHI Geneva and CSIO Spruce Meadows Masters. While The Dutch Masters already took place in April, the Spruce Meadows Masters and the CHIO Aachen take place around the same dates. The CHI Geneva will happen at the end of the year.
Luciana Diniz earned the second place with Vertigo du Desert. She reached the finish line in 56.55 seconds. This is her third time finishing second in the Turkish Airlines Prize of Europe and the Rolex Grand Prix. Her objective now is to give it all on Sunday and win first place.
The Belgian rider Jerome Guery together with Eras Ste Hermelle stopped the clock in 56.87 seconds, earning the third place. Pieter Devos and Mom’s Isaura finished fourth, jumping clear in 57.95 seconds.
We are excited to know what will happen on Sunday at the Rolex Grand Prix of CHIO Aachen. The festival englobes jumping, dressage and the best action in different equestrian sports and shows.
In dressage we will be seeing performances from the reigning champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (who recently performed an unbeatable golden hat-trick at the FEI Dressage European Championships), and fellow Olympic gold medallists Isabell Werth and Dorothee Schneider. More Olympic medallists include Ben Maher and the first woman to win individual gold in eventing, Julia Krajewski.
