Starting on Wednesday 25 at 5 p.m., the protagonists of the Italia Polo Challenge circuit will make a stop in Rome. On the eve of the opening of the CSIO in the capital, the polo teams will parade on horseback, accompanied by the Fanfare of the IV Regiment of Carabinieri.
The teams are expected to depart from the Ara Pacis and arrive at Via Condotti before returning to the starting point. The matches will take place from 25 to 28 May at the Galoppatoio di Villa Borghese: three players per team will play on a small field. This proposal in the Italian capital started in 2018 and has already become a classic.
This is the second stage of the Italia Polo Challenge, which takes place in the centre of Rome. This event consists of three stages, the first one has already taken place in Cortina at the beginning of 2022 with snow polo. Now, it continues to Villa Borghese and then makes its way to Costa Smeralda.
In this edition, four teams of up to five goal handicap are taking part. It is a 3 vs 3 format in qualifying matches. The grand final will be played on Saturday 28th at 21h. This will be followed by the prize-giving ceremony at the Roman venue of Piazza di Siena, the scene of international horsemanship for almost 90 years.
This tournament is supported by the Federazione Italiana Sport Equistri (FISE) and is free of charge for spectators. The participating teams are Tenuta Montemagno, U.S Polo Assn., Harpa Pure and Gennargentu.
In addition, preparations have intensified at the Villa Borghese for the 89th edition of the CSIO Rome 2022 - Master Fratelli d'Inzeo. It is one of the most important tournaments in Italy and internationally and will take place from Thursday 26 May to Sunday 29 May.
In addition to the technical aspects of the equestrian competition, the latest updates are being made to the list of riders, setting up the latest eco-structures, flowers and obstacles for the competitions. In this edition of the Piazza di Siena, 30 Italian riders will compete.
The final selection of the Italian team for the Intesa Sanpaolo Nations Cup will be announced on Friday 27th. For the moment, Marco Porro, the Italian team manager, has chosen Filippo Marco Bologni to replace Riccardo Pisani. The other four selected are Francesca Ciriesi, Lorenzo de Luca, Antonio Maria Garofalo and Luca Marziani.

Tomorrow, the eve meeting between the Azzurri and the media will also take place in the city of Rome. As for international participants, there are 85 riders registered, a total of 196 horses and a representation of 16 countries.
